The domain was secured long before the full vision took shape, a seed planted for what would become a tribute to the spirit of adventure. Steven’s path into the world of outdoor adventure began in 2015, when he joined a gear and axle manufacturer and was thrown headfirst into the grit of overlanding, Ultra4 racing, drag racing, and rock crawling. Surrounded by high-performance builds and trail-tested machines, he developed a deep respect for the off-road lifestyle. That hands-on experience paved the way for a career in professional marketing, working with major outdoor and sporting goods retailers, while also consulting for leading adventure and gear brands and manufacturers, all rooted in the rugged world where it started.
Fast forward to 2023, when San Francisco Overland came to life. Founded by Steven and Susie, a pair of passionate outdoor enthusiasts with a shared love for the wild and untamed beauty of Northern California and beyond, they recognized a unique opportunity to make the thrill of overland travel more accessible. They wanted to eliminate the hassle, cost, and long-term commitment of trailer ownership. Most rental options at the time were either too basic or too restrictive. Steven and Susie envisioned something better: premium trailers with rugged performance and refined comfort, giving travelers the freedom to roam without compromise.
Fueled by this vision, they created a rental service offering fully equipped trailers built for comfort, capability, and unforgettable off-grid adventures. Officially launched in January 2024, San Francisco Overland has quickly become a trusted name for luxury trailer rentals, overland consulting, retail gear sales, guided excursions, production support, location scouting services, and customized camping experiences. Today, the company continues to empower explorers to chart their own course and discover the beauty of the open road.
